Sign up for horticultural workshops
We have one simple mission: to make life better. We do this by offering a supportive, fun and encouraging environment that encourages people with learning disabilities to explore their independence and grow in confidence through learning new skills, socialising and making new friends.

Our garden centre workshops provide a unique opportunity for individuals with learning difficulties to learn and engage in various gardening tasks such as filling pots or trays with compost, pricking out, potting on or potting up, pruning, deadheading, weeding, top dressing, moving plants, putting labels on pots, and washing pots.
When will the workshops take place?
Every Monday & Wednesday, 10 am-2 pm (except bank holiday Mondays)
No sessions during the week between Christmas and New Year
Information on the type of workshops we do, the process and how to apply:
-
Contact us here or call us for an informal chat over the phone at 0118 930 4898
-
Attend an informal visit with the person we support 15 minutes before the workshop break (usually a good way to break the ice with the group)
-
If everyone is happy, attend two taster sessions (the first one is 1 hour, and the second one can be tailored to the individual's needs, anywhere from 1-4 hours)
-
The workshops involve various gardening tasks such as filling pots or trays with compost, pricking out, potting on or potting up, pruning, deadheading, weeding, top dressing, moving plants, putting labels on pots, and washing pots. Tasks are adapted to the individual's abilities.
-
The workshops are in a safe and secure garden centre area and provide opportunities for social interaction and mental and physical activity and building confidence and communication skills.
-
The goal is to support the growth and development of the person in various aspects of life and to ensure they have fun while participating in the workshop.
